Cumin whole or Roman cumin are the seeds of the caraway. The seeds are similar to caraway seeds, but are larger and greenish-brown. But they have a different smell and bitter taste, so this spice cannot be substituted for the classic cumin. It has a very pungent and slightly bitter taste.
